Wastewater Operations Lead

Meridian Service Metro District (MSMD) in Falcon, Colorado is growing and recruiting for full-time positions as Wastewater Operations Lead and Water Operations Lead. The district’s water and wastewater operations currently serve the development’s 10,000 residents with 15 on-site and 6 off-site wells and a large wastewater lift station providing primary treatment. Each position currently leads a team of two technicians. We are seeking experienced, motivated team players who enjoy being challenged and working in the water and wastewater fields.

MSMD serves the Meridian Ranch community, a growing golf & recreation community in northeastern El Paso County, Colorado. The district provides an excellent work atmosphere focused on teamwork and personal growth. The district provides an excellent benefits package, including a 75% contribution towards health insurance premiums for employee and family coverage, a defined contribution retirement plan with a 3% employer match, vacation time and paid sick leave. Here are some details about the Wastewater Operations Lead position:
Job Title: Wastewater Operations Lead
Reports To: Superintendent of Field Operations
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Summary: Responsible for overseeing the wastewater division including administration and operation of wastewater collection, pretreatment, metering, and pumping and conveyance facilities by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Serves as Operator in Responsible Charge of wastewater collection, lift station, and conveyance facilities in accordance with regulations of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
  2. Oversees the operations and maintenance of the sewer lift station, metering manholes, and discharge control vaults. *
  3. Maintains and operates the sewer collection system, sewer force mains, including manholes, pipes, and outfalls. *
  4. Samples water as required per Inter Governmental Agreements with state and local area governments. *
  5. Inspects grease traps. *
  6. Assists with preparation and management of wastewater preliminary budgets. *
  7. Approves monthly invoices. *
  8. Operates and maintains non-potable transfer systems. *
  9. Oversees or participates in sewer line maintenance. *
  10. Operates and maintains under drain infiltration pits and systems. *
  11. Inspects new home water and sewer systems installation. *
  12. Maintains monthly and annual flow totals logs. *
  13. Reviews and provides input regarding construction plans and observes construction of sewer facilities. *
  14. Operates and maintains water infiltration systems, including monthly monitoring and seasonal influx with increased monitoring.
  15. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Serves as certified operator in responsible charge (ORC) of water supply, treatment, and distribution operations; in accordance with the State of Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment Regulations. *
  2. Oversees the operation of the water treatment facility, to include chemical dosing, well water testing, and well level adjustment for start and stop operation. *
  3. Purchases chemicals for the treatment process as well as any needed chemicals used in testing of the water whether automatic testing or daily manual tests.*
  4. Samples water as required by Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. *
  5. Tracks pumping rates, volumes and water quality of water wells. *
  6. Maintains monthly and annual water volume and usage logs. *
  7. Installs and reads water meters as needed. *
  8. Reviews and provides input regarding construction plans and observes construction of water facilities. *
  9. Prepares and manages water preliminary budgets. *
  10. Inspects and maintains storage reservoirs and tanks. *
  11. Inspects and maintains system wide valves. *
  12. Inspects and maintains fire hydrants including flushing of lines to prevent stagnant water. *
  13. Inspects new home water and sewer systems installation. *
  14. Inspects residential water and sewer lines as requested. *
  15. Operates and maintains pump station. *
  16. Operates and maintains system wide PTV control vaults. *
  17. Operates and maintains water infiltration systems, including monthly monitoring and seasonal influx with increased monitoring.
  18. Approves and assigns account codes to monthly invoices. *

Board of Directors Meetings

The Board of Directors for the Meridian Ranch Metropolitan District, along with the Meridian Service Metropolitan District meets monthly on the first Wednesday of the month following the first Tuesday of the month. The meetings start at 10:00 Am and are held at 10301 Angeles Road.
